Job Description: The University of Justice Private School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Academic Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive academic advising to students, assisting them in achieving their educational and career goals while fostering a positive learning environment. The Academic Counselor will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and families to support student development and success.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

Provide academic counseling to students of diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate course selection, degree requirements, and academic policies.
Assist students in the development of academic plans and setting realistic academic and career goals.
Monitor student progress and provide guidance and support to students facing academic challenges.
Conduct workshops and seminars on topics such as study skills, time management, and career exploration.
Collaborate with faculty to identify at-risk students and develop intervention strategies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and documentation in compliance with institutional policies.
Serve as a liaison between students and various campus resources, including tutoring services, mental health support, and career services.
Organize and participate in orientation sessions for new students to facilitate a smooth transition into the academic environment.
Stay informed about changes in academic programs, policies, and curricula.
Engage in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of best practices in academic counseling and education.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in academic counseling, advising, or a related educational role, preferably within a higher education setting.
  • Strong understanding of academic policies, degree programs, and effective advising practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and discretion.
  • Proficiency in data management and student information systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to promoting student success and fostering an inclusive academic community
