The MCAT remains a cornerstone of the medical school application process, necessitating significant longitudinal preparation. By integrating core scientific principles with critical reasoning, the examination ensures that candidates possess the foundational competencies required for the rigors of modern medical curricula. • Scoring & Competitiveness: Total scores range from 472 to 528, with each of the four sections scored between 118 and 132; a cumulative score >509 is generally considered a competitive threshold for MD programs.

• Examination Structure: The test comprises four key sections: Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems (59 items), Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems (59 items), Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior (59 items), and Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS) (53 items).
