Position Overview: The Justice Studies Program is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to transition from a Student Internship role to a part-time Instructor position. This unique opportunity is designed to provide the selected intern with practical teaching experience, mentoring, and professional development within the realm of justice studies. The individual will play an integral role in shaping the educational experiences of students while contributing to the academic community.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
As a Student Intern:
Assist faculty members in developing and delivering course materials and lectures.
Participate in research projects relevant to justice studies, including data collection and analysis.
Support administrative tasks such as grading assignments, managing course logistics, and attending departmental meetings.
Engage with students, providing guidance and tutoring as needed to enhance their understanding of course content.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to organize workshops, events, and guest speaker engagements that enrich the learning environment.
Taking Courses Offered for licenses Requirement
As an Instructor (upon successful transition):
Develop and teach undergraduate courses in the Justice Studies Program that align with the curriculum and academic standards.
Foster an inclusive and engaging classroom environment that encourages critical thinking and active participation.
Assess and evaluate student performance through exams, assignments, and feedback mechanisms to enhance learning outcomes.
Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives, integrating current trends and issues in justice studies.
Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publishing, and participating in professional organizations.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, or transcript prove of 3 years of higher education, a degree program in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Political Science, or a related field.
Demonstrated interest in justice studies and a commitment to education and student development.
Previous experience in tutoring, teaching assistance, or related educational roles is preferred but not required.
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic academic environment.
Proficient in using technology and digital tools for teaching and learning.
