Course Description:
The Foundation of Peace-Officer Assistant course is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to support peace officers in maintaining law and order. Through a comprehensive 8-week program, students will learn about the principles of policing, the role of the peace officer, and the skills required to effectively support peace officers in the field.
Course Objectives:
Understand the Principles of Policing: Define and analyze the principles of policing, including the protection of life, prevention of crime, and maintenance of order.
Learn about the Role of the Peace Officer: Understand the role of the peace officer in maintaining law and order, including patrol, investigation, and community policing.
Develop Skills in Conflict Resolution: Develop skills in conflict resolution, including crisis management, de-escalation techniques, and negotiation.
Understand the Importance of Community Policing: Learn about the importance of community policing, including building trust, fostering partnerships, and promoting public safety.
Learn about Peace Officer Safety: Understand the importance of peace officer safety, including risk assessment, risk management, and emergency response.
Develop Skills in Communication and Interpersonal Relations: Develop skills in communication and interpersonal relations, including active listening, empathy, and conflict resolution.
